So its been like forever since I've posted but seriously, people, I do have a life(;
I've been sitting here thinking about what i will rant about today and I've chosen to rant about the STUPIDITY or ratherIGNORANCE of a few people I know.
First I'd like to say that I love the majority of the people I'm referring to but that being said:
I get that we're young: that for the most part, the major matters of the world are none of our worries, but im not going to lie. I was COMPLETELY blindsided when one of the people I consider a friend showed me just how ignorant he was.
I was working on some English (we were going over romanticism and the author of the latest story happened to be a die hard libertarian i.e. completely against government) when I started one of my familiar escapades when he said something along the lines of "Does the government even control us? They don't keep me from doing anything i want! This is so stupid, why do I care?"
OOOOKKKKKKAAAYYYY hold the phone.
hahahahahahahha i mean REALLY?
for all of you who are unaware i will inform you just how much the government controls and restricts your lives:
1. do you want to go to school? i mean everyday, do you really feel like waking up and going? now i completely agree with going to school (lets be honest, there's already to many people who are stupid enough without public education being eradicated.) but I'm just pointing out that it's one of the ways the government controls what you do. but hey, i know you all love waking up at the crack of dawn and would do it regardless! (;
2. Do you like buckling up every time you get in your car? i mean i strongly recommend it, but should it really be a LAW? if you wanna risk your life by not doing it, thats your business. BUT the government makes you do it anyways. ...of course, i know that every single one of you buckles your seat belt before you adjust your mirrors, check your rearview (four times of course) and turn off all distractions (i.e. phones and radios) before you even move the vehicle. (;
3. how do you feel about 30% of your hard earned money automatically being given to the government? weeeeelll it is! for every three ours you work about one of them is a donation for good 'ole uncle sam! woohoo!
4. wanna buy something that the government hasn't laid their oh-so-helpful hands upon? Well good luck with that, because about 99.98% of everything you buy has been stamped, taxed, and/or regulated by SOME federal organization.
5. Public schooling: im assuming if you read this than you probably are enrolled at a public school. Besides the fact that the majority of the teachers are less than mediocre, they are only told to teach you certain things that the government TELLS them they can teach you. It may not seem like its that big of a deal, but think about it this way: In Nazi Germany, the children were taught IN THE SCHOOLS that Jews were evil. The kids never even know they were being influenced upon. What could the government be putting into our heads without our knowing?
haha okay, maybe the Hitler reference was going too far. but STILL!! i was just getting tired of everyone i know being soo...sooo...ignorant of everything happening around them, i mean come on people. Learn about the world around you.
That's it for now, hey, look, you survived again(;

P.S.
heres a riddle rather than a thoughtful question:
There is a man who lives on the 34th floor in his building. Every day he rides the elevator down to the main floor to go to work. But, when he comes home in the afternoon he rides the elevator half way up and then takes the stairs the rest of the way. That is unless it's raining. Why is this?

ill give you the answer next week (:
